The "Big Bang" Theory

Woman getting bangs cut

At some point in time, most of us have considered whether or not to wear bangs. If you have ever had a negative experience with bangs or experimented with cutting them yourself (like I did in 5th grade) then the decision can be a little difficult. There are many different ways to wear bangs and when you know the right style to fit your face a little bang trim may be all you need for a little change. Here are some tips on determining bangs that are right for you:

First you need to determine the shape of your face. This Article will show you the steps you need. Once you have determined the shape of your face here are some suggestions for styles that will fit you.

ROUND FACE:Spider Man 3 - Paris Premiere
Side swept bangs or a wispy fringe best suits a round face. This look creates an arch which will help elongate your face. Looks to avoid are choppy bangs or short layers which add width to the side of the face.

OVAL FACE:Art of Elysium Gala
If you have an oval shape or long face, you can try lots of different options. The best style for this shape is a long bang that falls just below the eyebrows. If your hair is thick you can also try short blunt cut bangs, or long wisps if your hair is thin. The goal is to achieve width and fullness on the sides to create a more symmetrical look.

SQUARE FACE:Jessica Simpson Launches Body Care Fragrance Line
For those with a square shape face the key is to avoid blunt bangs and airy bangs that come to the jawline. This will cause your face to look "sharp." Layered bangs that fall just below the eyebrow and wispy fringe compliment this shape because it softens the edge of your face shape.

HEART SHAPED FACE: Avon Foundation Celebrates "Champions Who Change Women's Lives" - Arrivals
Side-swept bangs or bangs that are off-center are the most complimenting for those with a heart shaped face. It's important to draw the attention to the eyes and cheek bones and away from the chin. Looks to avoid are blunt bangs which can make your face look wide.

In my opinion, bangs are always "in style" if you know how to wear them correctly. For those who may not be ready for the long term commitment check out these Clip On Bangs by Jessica Simpson & Ken Paves. Try out a new look without the long term commitment and grow out proccess.
